Our Luke is 6!

Today our Luke is 6! It has been one wild and crazy ride, which even with this past week I would not trade for anything!

Luke is PURE boy, and him and Ashlyn have my heart.... my emotions are tied into how they feel. So this week has been a little stressful!
Last night Luke got the game ball, the day before his birthday and we stayed up late! This morning he woke up and we had put some balloons up for him to walk through, had French toast with a skittle smiley face and we took Ashlyn to school 1st so he could get some loving from his old teachers and I could walk him to his class this morning. They have a HUGE fun day planned at school. Luke does not want to do the water day so Memaw is going to pick him up at lunch and take him on a birthday date!
We hope it is going to be a super fun day for him. When we get home we are going to have cake, and head to Frankie’s Fun Park to ride the Go Carts! Looking forward to it.

Heavy Heart

I have a heavy heart, Spring Break and Luke’s wrist have brought out the not so good in Luke. He DOES NOT want to go to school. He got himself so worked up that he threw up on the way to school yesterday.

Last week was a hard week getting him to go to school, and this week-end he seemed so frightened to let Pat out of his sight. He has always wanted to know where everyone was but this week-end he took it to the extreme. He has also seemed nervous for a couple of weeks now.

Monday he cried for about an hour wanting his dad, he went to PE and seemed to do fine the rest of the day. Tuesday he cried off and on pretty much all day from 8:00-2:30, he had a pretty big breakdown where he had to go in the hall because he was so upset and kept screaming he wanted his dad. The teacher called Pat and Pat talked to Luke, he calmed down but kept saying his stomach hurt and he wanted his daddy. He kept asking the teacher when his dad was coming to get him, so she wrote 4:30 down on a piece of paper, and he kept looking at it and asking what is the REAL time? It was odd, alarming and just weird. So I got off early and picked him up at 2:30, he told me that he was afraid his dad was going to forget him at school. Wednesday he kept asking me what time his dad was coming to pick him up I said when he gets off of work, Pat had told him 4:30 so we went with that time. He would not eat breakfast and he got himself so worked up on the way to school that he threw up. Thursday today, he has a bowling party and he started asking me what time his dad would pick him up, I spanked him and sent him to his room. I went into his room and asked HIM “What time is your dad picking you up?” He said he did not know? I said THINK back to what he told you! Didn’t he say he would pick you up right when he gets off? Luke said Yes. I said and your dad said that would be around 4:30, right? Luke said yes! I said so repeat after me. “What time is your dad picking you up from school?” He said as soon as he gets off around 4:30! Please GOD help him get this through his thick HEAD! He is driving our nerves crazy! Tomorrow is his birthday and we have told him if he acts up today he will not be able to do any of the fun birthday things we have planned or he will not get his Kindle Fire this week-end. A 6 year old just should not be acting like this at school or at all for that matter. He almost started crying when I dropped him off this morning, and I said remember you are a big boy don’t start this. And he seemed to keep it together. UGGGH why does everything have to be so hard with kids? Why when one thing clicks something else breaks? We are so ready for this cast to be off and for things to hopefully get back to NORMAL!

Thursday was better, and today is Friday!  MeMaw is picking him up at 12:00.  I have to work since I have been out some this week!

Laundry Love "We Care" Week-end

THE CHURCH HAS LEFT THE BUILDING!

This week-end was a little busy, but we were able to do something wonderful as a family. Friday we went to church for a prayer meeting to get ready for our week-end of We Care at Holland Ave. Baptist Church. It was amazing to be part of this event. Different groups volunteered to do a wonderful assortment of things around the community. They varied from ICU visitation, Nursing Homes, Prayer Walking, River Walk Ministries, Laundry Love Ministries and just so many more. So much was going on and it was so wonderful, my heart is full to the top with cheer and pride for our church. We are going to keep this up, this week-end was just a little kick off! We have so much more in the works.

Pat and I participated in the Laundry Love Ministries. We had a team of 10 people, 5 went to one laundry mat and another team of 5 went to one. We were armed with snacks, drinks, reading materials, coloring books, washing powders and lots and lots of quarters. As people entered to spend a DAY at the laundry mat we offered to pay for their laundry to be washed and dried. I thought we would get some resistance from people, everyone was so grateful. It cost $2.00 to wash a load of clothes now days, and about the same to dry them! We met lots of people and as I said before everyone was so grateful. It was difficult to communicate with most of them since they spoke Spanish, but they felt the Lord working in their hearts because as they would leave they would hug us and say God Bless YOU! We were there to bless them, and yet we got so much more back in return. It felt good, really, really good! Who knew $4.00 bucks and a little laundry detergent would be so rewarding. We had a couple of people who were only going to wash one load and when we offered to pay brought 2 more loads in. Two girls had what looked like 3 families worth of clothes to wash and dry. We were there from 10:00-12:30 and honestly we felt we were just getting started, however our quarters were almost gone. We also met a young man who is getting married this Saturday he had his proposal on You Tube and pulled it up for us to see.  They just bought a house and getting married soon, and have not had time to get a washer/dryer. We met another young man who him and his wife just moved here from Illinois and they too are on the hunt for a washer/dryer. He said they had been looking for a church and want to come check us out.

Everyone loved our shirts, and I gotta admit they are pretty cool. The Church Has Left The Building!

Luke and Ashlyn were going to be in Daycare, but Mrs. Wright, Rick’s momma wanted them with her. She felt that it would be good for the kids to get out and see what good was going on. She was feeding everyone lunch and on our lunch breaks we all joined up at the park where Luke and Ashlyn were hanging out with the Wright Family. Luke said we were the 1st people here, and then a lot of people came and it has been SO FUN! Ashlyn pointed out a man who had been working on cutting the grass all morning. She said Mom he has been cutting grass and working all morning!! I told her that we would watch and when he got closer we would take him something to drink. He left before we had a chance to get over to him. She and Luke were upset when they got home and realized we forgot to give him some water. We will have to do better next time! Just so much was going on. I am excited that they are thinking of others and trying to make a difference at such a young age.

God was at work in a mighty way this week-end, and I feel things changing. What a blessing!

Romans 10:15 And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things!

T-Ball

We have this mom that takes all these amazing pictures of the kids!  She does so good, I have actually had some people ask me if I hired a photographer to take pictures.  LOL!  I wish I had that kind of cash.  After the games I get so excited to see her shots.  It is fun to be there, but to see the picture just makes it really sink in.  I honestly feel that is why I remembered so much of my childhood, because my sisters and I used to just sit and dig/look though this box of pictures my mom had.  She gave me some about a year ago and I scanned them.  I even knew that some were missing. :-)

Arm!

So lets hope Luke's left wrist is not broken.  He had this bright idea of jumping over the 4-wheeler at Papa Boozer and Dangs Wednesday while he was staying with them on Spring Break.  Well he did it once and thought this is pretty fun, so he did it twice with a shirt on so he would slide better and well he flew off the other side and on his wrist.  He seemed fine, and we have all been watching it like a hawk!

Friday before we left for the beach he said the vibration of his scooter hurt his wrist, but he went to the play ground and PLAYED hard and was swinging and jumping so I thought it must be fine, but we are still going to keep an eye on it.  Still when we got to the beach I noticed that Ashlyn was climbing in and out of the pool and Luke was not.  Hummm this is not normal, but I still thought well he seems fine. Saturday he was climbing in and out of the pool using his wrists and all seemed super normal, and I though yeah thank you!  We asked him about a hundred times if it hurt and he said no. He was climbing up the tree and swinging from he limbs Sunday at moms then he was running and fell on this left wrist and it was clear he needs an x-ray.   It is scheduled for 3:00 PM.  I will post the results as soon as I know.

He broke his right wrist May of 2010, and at that time it was the small bone in his wrist and a green stick fractor so they let him wear a removable cast.  This time it appears to be the larger bone OH I HOPE IT IS NOT BROKE!

Sure enough it is fractured.  I wanted to be the wrong over bearing mother this time! He got a camo swim cast and he does NOT like it.

Angry Birds Party for Luke!!

I gave Momma and Sheila a little over an hour notice and they pulled off a smashing Birthday Party for our little Luke.
