Last night Ashlyn had her last game with T-Ball, and the opposing team for Luke last night was short two players..so they asked another family and our family if we would help out. Most often I am the one who holds the kids back, and tell them they are not ready or wait a little while until you get bigger. Well I jumped at the chance last night. Ashlyn has been begging to play Coaches Pitch. So we let her play. Luke was confused and he really felt like we were being traders. The fact of the matter is Ashlyn was the 10th player and they could have played the game with out her since they had 8 and another little boy making 9, the board approved them to play with 9. Ashlyn was the 10th and the icing on the cake.
I swear the 1st hit went to her. She kept it in front of her and did an under hand toss to another little boy who made short work of getting it in. I was like whew. Then she struck out her 1st bat. Second bat she hit it on the grass, and got to 1st. I think the coach of that team was about to stand on his head he was so excited. She got someone home. :-)
The team Ashlyn was playing on won, and boy they gave Luke a hard time. Man your sister beat you and so on. So like I told Luke in the car, I am never going to tell Ashlyn to do bad because it makes you look good, and his comeback needs to be "Yeah she is GOOD she is my sister and I taught her everything she KNOWS!"
Ashlyn and the other little T-baller who helped out got the game ball. And if you know anything about baseball you know game balls are pretty great and hard to come by! Ashlyn was grinning from ear to ear.
It was a fun experiment. I do not want them to be on opposing teams again........ever! :-)
