I say this too often, but seriously this is going by FAST! I remember how Ashlyn came into the world so quickly, and how she had tried to make a early debut 2 months early. 09/07/07 I went to work, and I KNEW our little Ashlyn was going to be born.
I had a doctor’s appointment at 10:00 am and I told the doctor then that today was my delivery date, and he told me it was not. He was on call so I put his cell phone number in my phone. I went into my boss' office and gave him my passwords, and a rundown of where everything stood on my desk. He let us leave early that day at 2:30 p.m. I came home and packed up Luke's pack-n-play & bag then laid around and waited for Pat to come home. When I left work at 2:30 p.m. my contractions were 10 minutes apart. They were still weak at that time. Pat comes home a little early, I called and told him my contractions were getting stronger, so he got home around 5:00 p.m. took a quick shower and we rushed to get Luke from daycare. I sat in the car and remember thinking that I was going to have Ashlyn right then. The contractions eased off a little, and we took Luke to MeMaw's and Paw Paw's we unloaded him and his stuff, and I was trying to tell them what I had packed and just stuff they might need to know. I just finally looked at everyone and said I have to get to the hospital right now. At some point we did call the doctor, and I called my mom from the car on the way to the hospital. I remember mom asking me if I thought it was false labor, and I assured her that I was in labor.
We finally arrive at the hospital. I had laryngitis and could hardly speak. I think we arrived around 6:00 or 7:00, I mean we got a lot done fast! They start taking blood and hooking me up to stuff, and I remember I kept asking for something for pain. I wanted something now. The Anesthesia Assistant came in and was doing everything by the book. And then they gave me the Nubian, and the contractions eased a little but they did not go away. Pat's little nurse friend so happened to be in the room when both of our babies were born, and her and Pat had a catch up session both times. If I could have spoke I might had said something ugly, but God took my voice thankfully. I don't think it would have helped anyone! The Anesthesia Assistant kept saying I have to get your blood work done before you can have the epidural and then the Anesthesiologist came in and stopped her and said we don't have time for that. We are giving it to her now! Thank you! Once I got that I felt no more contractions! It did not have time to take effect totally, but the contractions were at bay. I dozed off for about 30 minutes. I woke up at 8:00 pm pushed three times, and Ashlyn was born at 8:08 pm.
6 lbs 13.9oz and 18 1/2 inches long.
Ashlyn was the sweetest baby, I would have to wake her up to feed her. She never cried and if she did it was the softest whimper. She made me want 20 more kids just like her. Ashlyn you have always, always been the happiest baby. I just loved your little chubby legs, now you are so skinny. You eat all the time! We still are amazed at how laid back you are and how you make us laugh. You do the funniest things! I think you are going to keep that brother of yours straight! We love you baby girl! You have made us so happy. No other child is sweeter than you. You are our sunshine. God has blessed us!
